Wabanaki Wilderness is conglomerate of several seasonal businesses under one roof, owned and operated by Robert and Barbara Dore who have an affiliation with the Passamaquoddy Tribe, which is a nation within the Wabanaki Confederacy. We sell Balsam Christmas Wreaths, provide professional, licensed Maine Bear Hunt Guiding Services, and operate an Archery Pro Shop, including a full practice range. We gather raw materials for the Christmas Wreaths, Bear Hunt and are located in Traditional Wabanaki Territory.
The Wabanaki Confederacy - translated roughly as 'People of the First Light' or ('Dawnland') are a Native American confederation of five principal Nations. In addition to the Passamaquoddy, there are the Mi’kmaq, Maliseet, Abenaki and Penobscot nations.
The Wabanaki Tribes — are located in, and named for, the area they call Wabanaki ('Dawnland'), generally known to European settlers as most of Maine, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, plus some of Quebec south of the St. Lawrence River. The Western Abenaki are located in New Hampshire, Vermont, and into Massachusetts.
